Climate learning that children can put their hands on
AgNova Global Development is a Ghana-based organisation working at the meeting point of climate literacy, environmental stewardship and youth leadership — in the place where habits are actually formed: the school.
Who we are
A practical organisation, working through Ghana's schools
AgNova Global Development designs and delivers environmental learning programmes for Ghanaian children. Our flagship initiative, the Climate Champions School Clubs Initiative (CCSCI), helps basic schools run climate clubs that connect what pupils learn to what they do.
We work with and through the education system rather than alongside it — with headteachers, teacher patrons, school management committees, PTAs, district education structures and local environmental partners. A club is designed to fit into the school club culture that already exists, without overburdening teachers.
Our approach is deliberately low-cost and high-participation: teachers are trained as facilitators, learning materials are simple and reusable, monitoring runs on affordable mobile tools, and communities are brought in early so that what is planted is also protected.
Child safeguarding first
AgNova is committed to child-safe, inclusive, and community-centered environmental action. All club activities are supervised by trained adults, field activities outside school require parental consent, and children's data and images are handled under a strict consent-based protocol.
Our mission
To make climate learning practical, age-appropriate and rooted in the lived realities of Ghanaian children — so that every pupil who passes through a Climate Champions club leaves able to explain the climate, care for a tree and lead an environmental project in their own community.
Our vision
A generation of climate-literate, environmentally responsible and action-oriented young Ghanaians — with active climate clubs in hundreds of schools, trees that survive because children care for them, and communities that are more resilient because their young people are informed.
How we work
We build models that other people can run. Materials are open and reusable, teachers are trained as trainers, districts are involved from the start, and strong schools become demonstration sites that mentor their neighbours. Our aim is not to be permanently present — it is to leave behind clubs that keep going.

Child-safe by design
Every activity is adult-supervised. No unsupervised field visits, parental consent for external activities, and careful protection of children's data and images.
Practical over theoretical
We measure learning by what pupils do — trees that survive, waste that is sorted, water that is saved — not by what they can recite.
Inclusive participation
Deliberate inclusion of girls, children with disabilities, low-income households and schools in climate-vulnerable communities. No elite-only participation.
Locally rooted
Global climate ideas are translated into Ghanaian homes, farms, markets, water bodies and school compounds so they make immediate sense.
Evidence and honesty
Geo-tagged trees, survival checks and simple scorecards mean partners see what actually happened, not just what was launched.
Built to be handed over
Teachers, headteachers, districts and communities own the clubs. AgNova's role shifts to technical support as schools take the lead.
